As a Logistics Technician, ensure accurate receipt and timely distribution of materials is carried out. Ensure safe warehouse practices and proper handling, storage and delivery of time and temperature sensitive material as well as chemicals and biological material. Responsible for receiving and storing cold chain, non-sensitive and MRO inventories, distributing all inventories received at plant to internal customers, , recording returned goods, doing cycle counts and working extensively in cold rooms when pulling product. Will be accountable for picking and packing customer orders for shipments and processing these by use of automated or manual carrier shipping systems. Will update procedures and provide improvement recommendations for processes as needed.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sign for materials received, check goods against packing slips and seek direction when materials do not match or are damaged. May be required to apply product labeling for materials and maintain the records of received goods. Routes received goods to appropriate locations and deliver all miscellaneous receipts to users.

  • Ensure handling, storage and timely distribution of incoming chemical and biological materials, packages, supplies, regulated material, animals' tissue, in-house stock requests, and time/temperature sensitive materials.  As per established standard procedures and SDS.

  • Receive, sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail.

  • Distribute internal and external correspondence generated into and out of plant.

  • Maintain copies of mail and package receipts.

  • Maintain bulk inventories, documents and electronic records.

  • Generate and/or Conduct cycle count of raw, bulk and finish goods inventories.

  • Identify root causes of inventory discrepancies and suggest ways to improve or correct the issues.

  • Receive and send bulk material and samples where applicable to and from Production, Quality Control areas and sites in the USA.

  • Provide material for internal customers as directed by Production Planners.

  • Manage stock transfer orders, pick, pack products for final shipment in accordance to regulatory agencies (DOT, Bureau of Census, IATA, etc.).  Ensure that product temperature shipping requirements are met.

  • Process daily outbound customer orders using SAP and or standalone carrier shipping systems such as UPS world ship, FedEx ship, or Internet based CARRIER sites.

  • Process and/or assist in preparation of airway bill, Shippers Letter of Instructions (SLI), shippers export declaration form and any other shipping document as required for domestic and/or international shipping.

  • Responsible for completing daily shipments and verifying that orders have been processed picked up by transporting carriers, and align with shipping schedules.

  • Notify affiliates of required shipping information via written communication as needed.

  • Participate in daily shift start-up meetings.

  • Maintain and replenish copier paper, foam boxes, and any other shipping supply by generating requisitions in SAP.

  • Support picking process for Shipping.

  • Create and Stock materials in accordance to the Warehouse bin strategy.

  • Communicate daily progress and/or issues to Supervisor in a timely manner.  

  • Required to operate a fork-lift and/or Company vehicle as directed.

  • Work on continuous improvement projects moderate in complexity as well as resolving issues with end users and or other groups when needed.

  • Keep abreast of the basic requirements for compliance in own area of work and follow these.  Participate as required in training of regulatory issues affecting own area of work. Bring regulatory compliance questions/issues to the attention of management as needed.

  • Promote a safe work environment. May provide recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment. Participate in Environmental Health and Safety programs. Address corrective actions whenever a hazard is identified. Notify supervisor of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices.

  • May be required to help write or revise Standard Operating Procedures and/or work instructions.

  • May be required to train other associates and support the manufacturing team as needed.

  • May be required to maintain reports and department metrics.

  • Actively participate in the Daily Management System by attending, leading shift start up meetings, and providing appropriate metrics.

  • Provide recommendations to support systems that continuously improve product/process quality and product availability, reduce cost, and increase production capability.

  • Support internal inventory audits to assure accuracy. F

  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required.                    

  • Support SURI Declarations for Inbound Deliveries.    

  • Process Material Disposition Form.

  • Support product discard activities.                                                                     

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Demonstrated ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Effective organization and planning skills.

  • Effective analytical, quantitative, and problem solving skills.

  • Effective interpersonal skills.

  • May be required to lift between 25-35 pounds of cargo on a regular basis.

  • Will require a valid and unrestricted driver's license.

  • Working knowledge of MS Windows environment software such as MS Office.

  • Should have experience using ERP systems preferably SAP.

  • Knowledge of GMP, QSR or ISO requirements preferred.

  • Fluent in English and Spanish (enough to read and fully understand work instructions, SOP's and to revise them accordingly and to communicate verbally with others) especially with counterparts in affiliates located  in the USA or in other geographies.

  • Attendance and punctuality are an essential function of the job position.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma required

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Science, Business Administration or Material Management preferred.

  • Requires a minimum of one (1) year experience in Logistics, Warehousing/Inventory Control and Shipping

  • Experience in a pharmaceutical, medical and/or biotechnology manufacturing environment are preferred
